What is the scientific explanation for the placebo effect in Ayurveda or traditional Indian medicine (TIM)?

Ayurveda is a Hindu medical pseudo-science. Many Hindus claims that Hindu sages had “ancient" medical knowledge to cure human medical conditions. India is filled with Ayurvedic quacks in every corner trying to cure medical problems with gau-mutra (cow urine).

However Ayurveda is a complete HOAX and has no basis in reality.

Below are “gems” of medical advice of Ayurveda from Hindu scriptures:

Cure mental illness with cow urine:

[Agni Puran 285:18]
Asafoetida, natrum and vyoṣa (dry ginger) and pepper (each weighing) two palas, an āḍhaka (a measure) of ghee soaked in four parts of cow’s urine would remedy insanity.

Cure ED with semen from various animals:

[Charaka Samhita, Section 6 (Cikitsasthana), Ch 2b (asikta-ksirika) sh 10-13]

The physician should collect the semen of the sparrow, swan, cock, peacock, estruant crocodile, and the nekoo crocodile, as also cow’s ghee, boar’s fat and sparrow’s fat, the flour 6' the Shashtita rice and of wheat. With these should be prepared (Pūpalika) pancakes, (Śaṣkulī) doughnuts, coils, sweet cakes, Dhana sweets and other sweetmeats of diverse kinds. By taking a course of such preparations, a man is enabled to copulate with a woman for as long a time as he wishes with equine virility, with full erection of the phallus supported by seminal fullness.

Cow urine for abdominal tumor (cancer cure?)

[Agni Purana 285:56]
Pills made of pāṭhā, nikumbha, pepper, dry ginger, long pepper, the three kinds of myrobalans and agni boiled with cow’s urine would remedy abdominal tumour, spleen and the like.

Get son by eating beef & rice:

[ Brihadaranyaka Upanishad Ch 6 Sec 4 shloka 18 ]
He who wishes that a son should be born to him who would be a reputed scholar, frequenting the assemblies and speaking delightful words, would study all the Vedas and attain a full term of life, should have rice cooked with the meat of a vigorous bull or one more advanced in years, and he and his wife should eat it with clarified butter. Then they would be able to produce such a son.

Pigeon dung on penis to “control" woman:

[Garuda Purana, Dhanvantari Samhita (Section 3) Ch CCVIII]
O thou supreme deity, the application of a plaster composed of pigeon’s dung and rock-salt pasted together with honey by a man, before intercourse, to his own reproductive organ, enables him to bring the woman under his control.

TRIVIA: Below is a picture of an Ayurvedic doctor's clinic. Can you spot if this doctor cures “premature ejaculation” ?

ANSWER: He cures “premature education".
