 When certain topics are brought up in a debate, it may be regarded as an attempt to deviate from the main topic. In addition, it implies that expressing anger in a hateful or venomous manner towards marginalised or vulnerable groups defines hate speech. In other words, bringing up other matters to divert from the topic and displaying hatred towards certain groups are both inappropriate behaviours that can be damaging to the discussion and the individuals involved.
